The Marston Vale Line, which runs from Bletchley to Bedford, is due to to resume to its services in autumn 2023.
The line was suspended until further notice back in December, after confirmation that Vivarail had entered administration.
Since its suspension, London Northwestern Railway (LNR) have been working with the Department for Transport to come up with a solution which could see the return of trains as quickly as possible but due to short platforms along the line, there is a limited number of options, the Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership explained.
In an update issued by London Northwestern Railway today (15/6), the train company says it has been a 'busy month' with preparations taking place to welcome the Class 150 trains which will now serve the Marston Vale Line.
"We have been advised by Northern, where the trains are currently in service, that they expect to release the trains to us next month (July). This will be an important milestone as it will allow us to begin training our technicians and train crew on the Class 150s," London Northwestern Railway said.
"Ahead of the trains' arrival with us we are continuing to make arrangements to develop the required driver and senior conductor training courses which our colleagues must complete to allow us to bring the trains into passenger service as soon as possible."
