Parents have reported that groups of men have been seen allegedly taking photos outside of Deanshanger Primary School.
After a morning of discussions on local village Facebook groups a letter has been issued to parents and a visible Police presence can be seen outside this village Primary School in Deanshanger.
Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to inform you that we have been made aware of some men hanging around outside the school during drop-off and pick-up times. I understand that this may be concerning, and want to reassure you that we are taking this matter seriously.
We contacted the police about this last week and again today to report the situation. We are currently awaiting an update from them and will share any relevant information as soon as we receive it.
In the meantime, I advise all parents and carers to be extra vigilant during these times. Please be rest assured that your children are safe whilst in school, where they are well supervised at all times. As an added precaution, we will be keeping children away from the back of the field for the time being.
If you notice any suspicious behaviour, please contact the police directly and inform the school afterwards as a precaution.
Finally, while we remain alert, it is important that the children continue to feel safe and secure. Let’s work together to manage this sensitively without causing unnecessary worry for them.
Thank you very much for your cooperation and support.
A parent spoke to MKFM after she had taken her children out of Deanshanger Primary School, here is what she had to say, "I took them out as they cannot be trusted you don't know what anyone is capable of from there, my children's safety was more important and felt it was the right thing to do, the school didn't seem that bothered by it. We wasn't reassured until people went to take their children out of school why wasn't this done when it was first brought to their attention". Another parent said "I have taken all 3 of my children out of the school".
Anyone with any information should report it to Northamptonshire Police on 101. MKFM have contacted Northamptonshire Police for more information.
A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the concerns reported by people in the vicinity of Deanshanger Primary School in recent days and can confirm that we have not identified any offences or safeguarding issues at the present time.
“We have been in contact with the school and officers will be outside the school at key times for reassurance purposes. Parents or guardians are welcome to approach one of these officers who will be happy to help.”
