Police appeal for witnesses following fatal collision on A422

Witnesses are being sought after a fatal road traffic collision on the A422 Stratford Road in Deanshanger.

Northamptonshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision.

The incident occurred shortly after 5pm on Monday, February 28, when a gold Range Rover Velor travelling along the A422 towards Deanshanger, was in collision with the rear of a white Fiat Doblo van.

The Range Rover then crossed the carriageway and collided with a silver Ford Transit van, causing it to roll several times past three vehicles before colliding with a silver Audi A6.

As a result of the collision, one of the occupants of the Range Rover sustained fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The second occupant sustained serious injuries and remains in a critical condition at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The driver of the silver Ford Transit van – a man in his 40s from Warwickshire – also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital. The driver of the white Fiat Doblo was treated for minor injuries.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage of the actual collision or any of the vehicles prior to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 or Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 377 of 28/02/22.

Prior to the incident, the Range Rover had failed to stop for officers from Thames Valley Police.

Reports state a mandatory referral has been made by Thames Valley Police to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
