There are plans for more affordable homes to be built on the doorstep of Campbell Park.
MK Council is preparing to sell its land at Glebe roundabout (on Overgate, Central Milton Keynes) to enable more affordable homes to be built for local people.
The land close to Glebe roundabout, on the doorstep of Campbell Park is managed by The Parks Trust and is currently unused.
The site has planning permission for 60 new one and two-bedroom apartments, of which 30% will be ‘affordable’ based on local salaries, say MK Council.
Figures released earlier this year show that MK has beaten housebuilding targets set by central government for the fourth year running.
Cabinet Member for Resources, Cllr Rob Middleton said: “It’s really important that we make use of sites like this, especially when they have the potential to deliver much-needed new homes.
"We’ll continue promoting similar sites so we can encourage housebuilding that’s genuinely affordable to people’s income.”
The plans follow as the new canalside development, Campbell Wharf, nears completion.
Last week, plans were announced for 950 new homes to be built on empty land adjacent to the park.
