Milton Keynes Council is backing a nationwide cleanup campaign and is offering residents free litter picks so that they can take part.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign is calling on the public to help the charity achieve a million miles of litter-picking between 28th May and 13th June.
During the last year, people have relied on local parks and green spaces for walks, somewhere to exercise and to play.
But this extra use has resulted in an increase in litter being reported. Residents have actively worked to combat this; many community groups have started litter picking during the lockdown.
And for those that wish to start cleaning up the community, Milton Keynes Council is offering to lend people and groups litter pick kits free of charge.
Those who wish to take part can click here to visit a website that features a list of where the litter picks can be collected from.
In addition, you can visit the Keep Britain Tidy website to check if your local area is already taking part in a clean-up.
The Great British Spring Clean, now in its sixth year, brings together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep. In 2019, more than half a million #LitterHeroes collected just under a million bags of litter, weighing around 4,308 tons.
