The project provides an onsite treatment centre, offering emergency first aid and a police and medical presence, helping to safeguard vulnerable people on a Friday and Saturday evening in CMK.
As part of its promise to provide a greater level of support to evening economy businesses within the Business Improvement District (BID), MyMiltonKeynes has partnered with Thames Valley Police, St John Ambulance and Milton Keynes Council to introduce a Safe Hub in Central Milton Keynes (CMK).
The first Safe Hub, located at The Hub, Midsummer Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes on 10 and 11 December, saw a number of people treated for minor injuries and welcomed an encouragingly high level of support from party-goers, who were out celebrating the run up to Christmas in the city centre.
Inspector Ross Gehnich from Milton Keynes Police Station said: “The hub is a fantastic facility which demonstrates the commitment of Thames Valley Police and our partners to ensuring a safe night time economy in Milton Keynes.
“In addition to providing emergency first aid, it also serves as a focal point for those needing support whilst on a night out.”
Melanie Beck MBE, Chief Executive of MyMiltonKeynes explains: “We’re proud to support this important project, which helps to further strengthen our ambitions to create a ‘Safe City’ for Central Milton Keynes.
“The objectives set out in our new five-year Business Plan, which include the expansion of the Safe Hub, detail MyMiltonKeynes strategy for creating partnership initiatives that will help to keep businesses, employees, residents and visitors safe in CMK.”
