With parks becoming more popular because of lockdown, littering has become a huge issue across the city.
Parks Trust has shared a number of photos on social media to show the extent of littering in their parks and lakes.
The Trust is a self-financing charity, meaning they receive no funding from local or central government, so the cost of picking up litter falls solely on to them.
The cost alone for littering in their parks is £350,000, money that could be sent elsewhere on activities or improving facilities.
We love seeing people enjoying the parks but please respect your local green spaces and take your litter home! 🚯

Parks Trust hopes that by educating people on the costs of littering to them and the impact it has on the wildlife that lives in their parks, people will stop littering.
Hedgehogs (an already endangered species) have been particularly affected by getting trapped in litter, resulting in some hedgehogs dying.
They are now encouraging all visitors to take the rubbish home instead of littering or using a bin, then all their parks can be litter-free again.
Parks Trust has even had to start fining people £80 for dumping their rubbish in their parks, even though this makes them no extra money.
