Odeon Milton Keynes has responded to rumours circulating that some cinemas could be closing during the week to reportedly scale back operations.
It has been reported that Odeon, which operates 120 cinemas in the UK and Ireland, will be shutting a quarter of its cinemas Monday-Thursday to cope with the problems the industry has been facing due to COVID-19.
Limitless card holders were allegedly sent an email stating that some cinemas would be operating a weekend-only model from this Friday.
Film Stories claims that the email sent to customers reads: "In light of the ongoing delays to the release of many new films, from 9 October we will be temporarily reducing the opening hours of ODEON (Name Of Venue), and will now be open from Friday-Sunday."
The alleged email adds that “we look forward to reopening full time when the big blockbusters return, but in the meantime, we promise to bring you a great choice of big-screen films to enjoy at the weekends”.
Yesterday, MKFM shared the news that Cineworld cinemas will be temporarily closing from this Thursday after the chain last month announced half-year losses of $1.6bn (£1.3bn).
And since then people have been questioning whether cinema giant Odeon would take a similar approach.
But MKFM can now confirm that our local Odeon, at MK1 Shopping & Leisure Park in Bletchley, will be staying open.
"We are definitely staying open 7-days a week," said Kenny Simmons, General Manager. "We'll continue to show a wide variety of content for our guests and offer a safer cinema experience to all."
