New mass vaccination centre set to open just north of Milton Keynes

As the government further boosts its vaccination program, a brand-new NHS COVID-19 site is set to open its doors in Northampton this coming Monday (25/01).

The Northampton site, situated at the Royal Pavilion in Moulton Park, will be the new closet site to Milton Keynes and will begin providing protection to the most vulnerable against the coronavirus.

This new facility has the capacity to provide the local community with thousands of jabs each week, providing supplies allow this to be the case.

Chris Pallot, the COVID-19 vaccination programme director in Northamptonshire, said: “Our local vaccination services have already vaccinated many thousands of the people who need it most across Northamptonshire – and the launch of our new Vaccination Centre will give us the capacity to vaccinate thousands more each week as the national vaccination campaign is stepped up and supply increases.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved – in particular the staff and volunteers who will be running the service. Everyone has come together to join in with this titanic effort.”

The current groups of the highest priority to receive the vaccine are care home residents and staff, health and social care workers, and the over 70s – all who should have their first jab by mid-February. The centre is currently issuing vaccinations by appointments only and those who are eligible will be contacted directly by the NHS with the next steps they need to follow.
