New infant feeding corner for Milton Keynes hospital

Mums and babies get their own seating area in the main entrance.

Milton Keynes Hospital Charity has unveiled the latest use of donations to help make a difference at the hospital.

A new comfortable, fit-for-purpose seating area in the main entrance has been set up where parents can feed their babies and pregnant service users can rest. It has all been made possible thanks to generous donations to the charity.

The new space was unveiled this week by representatives from Milton Keynes Maternity Voices Partnership (MNVP), with maternity and charity staff in attendance.

The idea was initiated by Kim Hadjicosta, the hospital’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) Officer. She said parents were struggling to find a suitable space to sit and feed their baby in the hospital’s main entrance.

Her observation led to the charity supporting discussions between Milton Keynes University Hospital and MNVP to make the plan a reality.

“I’m so pleased we can now offer this area for patients and visitors who need to feed their baby,” said midwife Georgena Leroux. “A special thank you to the charity for making this possible, and to Kim for her valuable observation which kickstarted the whole project.”
