MPs praise Milton Keynes hospice work

Local members pay tribute at recent Hospice Care Week event.

MK MPs Callum Anderson and Chris Curtis have thanked hospices across the UK for the support they provide for individuals and their families during incredibly difficult times.

And they especially highlighted Willen Hospice, which has provided specialist care in Milton Keynes for more than 40 years.

The parliamentarians were speaking at a recent Hospice UK pop-up charity shop set up at the Houses of Parliament.

“We all know that hospices such as Willen do a brilliant and irreplaceable job, and I was so pleased to join Hospice UK to celebrate the work that their members do to support 300,000 people a year,” said Callum Anderson, MP for Buckingham and Bletchley.

“In our manifesto, Labour made health and social care a priority, and we are committed to working collaboratively with hospices to provide the wraparound support that people deserve at their end of life”.

“It was brilliant to visit Hospice UK’s pop-up charity shop display,” added Milton Keynes North MP Chris Curtis. “I enjoyed speaking to the frontline staff and learning more about their vital work provided for those in their care.

“I am determined to do all I can to support Hospice UK and the fantastic Willen Hospice, whose inspiring work supporting individuals and families across Milton Keynes plays a very important part in our communities.”

Willen Hospices’ ‘Care at home? Who cares?’ campaign is urging local people to pledge their support for the organisation, and particularly the Willen at Home team and already has more than 5000 signatures on its website appeal.
