Motorists in Milton Keynes urged to not attempt to drive through flood water as roads remain closed

Milton Keynes City Council is urging motorists to avoid driving through flooded roads.

Following more heavy rain, Milton Keynes City Council has closed the V7 Saxon Street, between H5-H4 south, due to flooding.

Little Linford Lane and River Side in Milton Keynes are also closed.

The heavy rain follows a yellow weather warning which was put in place from 12pm Thursday until 3am this morning.

The City Council has taken to social media to urge drivers to stay safe as many roads remain flooded across the city and in neighbouring villages and towns.

"Please DO NOT attempt to drive through a road that is closed due to flooding," the City Council says.

"It is unsafe to do so and near properties, it creates waves against buildings already at risk from the flood water. Deep water can also hide dips or hazards in the road."

It comes as the A421 remains closed eastbound from the M1 to Marston Moretaine, with significant delays around Junction 13 of the M1 where the closure is in place.

A number of houses have been evacuated due to flooding in nearby Leighton Buzzard and there are road closures in place on Hockliffe Road at the junction of Brook Street and Appenine Way.

Motorists are also being asked to avoid Sheep Lane in Woburn at the Flying Fox roundabout.
