More bins have been installed across the borough, as the Labour and Liberal Democrat Progressive Alliance tries to crack down on litter and fly-tipping.

73 new dual bins have been fitted throughout Milton Keynes, alongside the 19 solar powered smart bins that were installed last year, in a bid to tackle littering and fly-tipping.

Cabinet Member for Public Realm, Labour Councillor Lauren Townsend, said: “The Progressive Alliance is committed to keeping Milton Keynes clean; we take a zero-tolerance approach to littering and fly-tipping.”

“Alongside our litter wardens, easy to access tips and CCTV in fly-tipping hotspots, these bins will help us keep our city tidy and green.”

Councillor Paul Trendall, Liberal Democrat Cabinet Member for Customer Services, added: “With even more bins on the way, we’re taking the steps needed towards a cleaner, greener and safer Milton Keynes.”

The new bins follow the Alliance’s fly-tipping action plan, which sets out what can be done to educate the public on proper waste disposal and strengthen enforcement for those who break the law.
