MK Dons has welcomed the 'exciting' news that capacity limits could be lifted at Stadium MK later this month, in time for the next football season.
Under stage four of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown, the rules on social contact will be lifted alongside the need for venues to limit capacity to follow social distancing.
MK Dons has had a tough year after its team having to play behind closed doors, but now it seems that the players could be finally seeing a new normal for the 2021/22 season.
The club has said it welcomes the Government's announcement regarding the proposed easing of restrictions from 19th July, and, specifically, the removal of capacity limits in sporting venues.
MK Dons said in a statement: "This is exciting news for the Club but particularly our supporters, many of whom have been unable to see their team in action for over 16 months.
"The Club will begin working through the detail of this announcement and await further guidance from the football authorities, before determining what this means for supporters returning to Stadium MK this season, starting with the pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur.
"As always, the well-being of fans is paramount and we remain committed to making Stadium MK a safe venue to enjoy live sport.
"We will communicate further information to our fans as soon as possible."
