MK Dons will face both Portsmouth and Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League One next season, after both sides were beaten in their respective Play-Off Semi Finals.
Portsmouth, who twice led against Oxford United over the course of the two legs, were beaten by the U's in a penalty shoot-out, following a 2-2 aggregate score after 210 minutes of action.
Fleetwood, meanwhile, showed great spirit to make a game of their Semi Final against Wycombe Wanderers following a 4-1 first-leg defeat, but, in the end, were beaten 6-3 on aggregate by the Chairboys, who held on for a 2-2 draw on Monday evening.
Both, therefore, will join Russell Martin’s men in League One for 2020/21, becoming the Dons’ 18th and 19th confirmed opponents for the upcoming campaign.
The Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final takes place next Monday night, with Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers battling it out for a place in the Championship.
There is also the matter of relegation from the Championship, where three teams will drop from the second tier into League One for 2020/21. Luton Town, Barnsley and Middlesbrough currently occupying those relegation spots, although only six points separate Boro and 16th-placed Wigan Athletic, who are also due a points deduction. The final day of the Championship season is set for Wednesday 22nd July.
