Milton Keynes writer in search of film maker

Local author hopes to attract a TV producer or movie maker after releasing debut novel.

An Olney-based author is hoping his new novel will draw the attention of a film-maker in 2025, and turn his fantasy tale into a production for the screen.

Freelance journalist Tom Johnston turned his hand to fiction during the Covid pandemic of 2020, but it took until last summer to get his story ‘A Spell Of Rain’ – about a man cursed by a never-ending storm – published as an Ebook.

“I thought of the story a few years ago and put an initial draft together during Covid when, like a lot of people, I found myself with extra time on my hands,” said Tom.

“But it took until this year for me to work on the draft and develop it into a proper novel fit for publication. I made a New Year’s Resolution earlier in the year to get the book finished in 2024 and I’m delighted that I was able to do that.”

The novel is available on Kindle, Apple Books and the US bookseller BN.com. However, Tom is hoping a film producer or director might like the tale, as he has also co-written a screenplay - or script - of the same story, for a movie or TV drama.

“It would be fantastic if a producer or director read the book and considered it for a film,” said Tom. “Having a story published as a paperback or Ebook is one step – and a positive one too – but it would be great to see it acted out on screen one day.”
