Milton Keynes workers average £1200 pay rise in last year

City staff see salary increases along with rest of country.

The average worker in Milton Keynes has seen a £1,198.92 real terms pay rise over the last year, according to new analysis. The figure was based on Office of National Statistics (ONS) earnings data published this week, which also revealed real pay rises of 3% across the country.

The news comes alongside this month’s increase to the National Minimum Wage by the Government, reaching a record high of £12.21 an hour, up 6.7% on the year before.

MPs across Milton Keynes have welcomed the news, saying that it shows Labour’s plan to deliver for working people in action.

“We know the cost of living crisis inherited from the previous Government isn’t over for families in Milton Keynes – but these figures show Labour’s plan for change is starting to put more money in the pockets of working people,” said Chris Curtis, Labour MP for Milton Keynes North.

“Real wages and the state pension up, NHS waiting lists down, community policing returning and a government that backs new housing projects and exciting infrastructure opportunities across Milton Keynes,” said Emily Darlington, MP for Milton Keynes Central. “This is the change that Labour promised.”

And Callum Anderson, MP for Buckingham and Bletchley, added: “Change takes time, but this week’s figures are further evidence that it is happening, and that Labour is delivering for people in Milton Keynes.”
