Milton Keynes woman to run London Marathon for children’s charity

A young Milton Keynes woman has decided to run the 2025 London Marathon in hopes of raising money for children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Franchesca Skinner, 26, from Woburn Sands, Milton Keynes has made the brave decision to run the London Marathon on April 27, 2025, for children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Barnardo’s are a children’s charity that ensure children and young people feel safer, happier, healthier, and more hopeful by operating more than 800 specialist services across the UK, in addition to campaigning to change the way the system works for the better. Barnardo’s have been striving to make a difference for over 150 years.

Franchesca told MKFM, “Barnardo’s is an amazing charity that provides homes and better lives for vulnerable children that need help. This journey has had sweat, tears and laughter and my journey has only just begun.”

Franchesca is hoping to raise £500 by December this year and intends on raising £2,300 by April 2025 for the charity. She has so far raised £105 and has no plans of stopping until she hits her goal.

As well as taking on the challenge for a great cause, it is also a challenge that Franchesca is doing for herself. Franchesca added, “If anyone is thinking of starting their running journey, I would say go for it because you don’t know what you’re missing on.”
