Milton Keynes woman in bid for father’s headstone – 33 years later

Dad cheated death twice but only has a wooden cross.

A Milton Keynes woman whose father died 33 years ago has begun an appeal for cash to help her buy him a new headstone.

Tara Plummer says her father Lionel brought her up after her parents split when she was young, and he was a great inspiration to her as a child.

He twice cheated death – once when he survived a massive electric shock while working on the railways and later when he underwent a heart and lung transplant and lived for another five years.

“My father sadly passed away 33 years ago and he was a great inspiration to me in my life,” said Tara.

“Unfortunately, my father still only has the cross I had made for him when he passed away which, as you can see from the picture, is now completely worn out. I am now the owner of my father’s grave, and I am trying desperately to be able to raise funds to give my father a headstone that he deserves.

“My father endured so much in his life including before I was born when he was electrocuted whilst working on the railway and had 25,000 volts go through his body. Luckily, he somehow managed to survive but spent 18 months in hospital burnt to a crisp.

“In 1988 my father underwent a heart and lung transplant due to his declining health but sadly in February of 1993 he passed away.”

Tara is hoping to raise £1,250 for her father’s new gravestone and already has raised £80.

Details of her GoFundMe page are here.
