Milton Keynes Theatre is set to announce the suspension of further productions due to the national lockdown.
Just like other venues in the arts industry, Milton Keynes Theatre was forced to close its doors in May 2020 as the nation went into its first national lockdown.
As restrictions began to ease, and businesses gradually reopened, the much-loved theatre was unable to follow suit and had to continue suspending production after production.
In December 2020, some good news followed when it was announced that Milton Keynes Theatre was to host a socially-distanced pantomime. However, when Milton Keynes was placed into Tier 3 due to the new variant of COVID-19, the theatre had to cancel all remaining shows.
The theatre curtain has been closed since, and due to the current lockdown situation, further show suspensions are expected to follow.
My Milton Keynes, which runs the Business Improvement District in Central Milton Keynes, has stated that all shows from Monday 1st March to Saturday 3rd April are to be suspended.
This is yet to be confirmed by Milton Keynes Theatre, but once officially announced, it means that shows including Romesh Ranganathan - The Cynic’s Mixtape will not be going ahead as planned.
