Milton Keynes students plan mass meet up after schools break for summer

As today marks the final day of school before the summer break, schools in Milton Keynes warn parents of students from numerous schools planning to congregate in the city centre.

Schools have informed parents of a mass meet up today (July 19), planned by students across Milton Keynes to congregate in the city centre after the breakup for the summer holidays.

The warning comes after the eruption of disorder that took place the day before the Easter bank holiday earlier this year, where over 300 students met up in the city centre, causing Thames Valley Police to issue a Section 34 dispersal order (giving police power to direct a person to leave a specified area and not to return for up to 48 hours) following the chaos.

To avoid a reoccurrence of the incident, some schools have informed parents to encourage their child(ren) to make sensible decisions and be safe. They have also suggested that parents ensure their kids return straight home after school to avoid being caught up in any possible incidents.

An email from a school to parents wrote:

    “Dear Parent,

We are writing to inform you that we have received information from other schools and the police to suggest that students from numerous schools will be congregating in the city centre tomorrow after the breakup for the summer holidays. Following the incident at the end of the Easter term we would ask that you know where your child is after our early finish at 12pm and that they are encouraged to return straight home to avoid being caught up in any anti-social behaviour. There will be an increased police presence in the centre to ensure an orderly end to the school year.”
