Education challenge inspires technology and science interest among local young people.
Students from a range of Milton Keynes schools and academies are taking part in an innovative engineering competition to design and build a model lifting machine.
The competition, called the RC Nifty Challenge, was devised by Milton Keynes-based platform manufacturer NiftyLift. It aims to bring together students from eight MK schools to explore the world of engineering with this innovative STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) initiative.
This year’s participants include teams from Denbigh School, Hazeley Academy, Oakgrove School, Ousedale School, Stantonbury School, Sir Herbert Leon Academy, Walton High Academy, and Watling Academy.
Launched earlier this year, the competition will culminate in a thrilling event in April 2025, where teams will showcase their RC Nifty models and present their design choices to a panel of judges.
In the run-up to the competition final, students will get an overview of the contest, tour the NiftyLift factory, and will receive their project box containing their RC Nifty model kits, a parts list, and assembly instructions to get started on their designs.
The RC Nifty Challenge aims to inspire students to continue studying STEM subjects and consider engineering as a future career path.
“We are delighted to see the enthusiasm and creativity of this year’s participants,” said Simon Maher, Niftylift’s Marketing Manager. “By engaging with local students through the RC Nifty Challenge, we hope to foster a lifelong passion for engineering and open doors to rewarding career opportunities in Milton Keynes and beyond.”
