Milton Keynes schoolboy arrested after stabbing fellow pupil

    Thames Valley Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy following an incident at Stantonbury International School on Tuesday morning (21/1).

    A 15-year-old remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of grievous body harm.

    Officers were called to the secondary school at 10:55am after reports of a stabbing. 

    A boy received a small puncture wound to his back. It is reported that his injury was sustained from a scissor attack . His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

    Superintendant Marc Tarbit, LPA Commander for Milton Keynes, said: "Officers are investigating this incident in which a boy has been injured. 

    "Officers are on scene and we are working closely with the school to offer support to them and pupils and parents at the school. Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence whilst our enquires continue."

    Concerned parents waited for hours outside of the secondary school for their children to be sent home.

    Other schools in the area were on lockdown following the incident, including Portfields Primary School in Newport Pagnell. 

    Stantonbury International School have responsed. It reads below: 

    "A student at Stantonbury International School has today assaulted another. The assaulted student received a small puncture wound and was immediately seen by a first aider. This is not a knife crime.

    Senior staff acted quickly to identify the student who made the assault and to gather as full and accurate as possible a picture of the event. The school also contacted police who questioned the relevant students and have arrested a 15 year old boy. The support of the police is very much appreciated.

    The school’s role as a community is to act quickly to ensure the safety of all students, to deal with the students involved according to its published policies and in tune with its ethos and to gather as full and accurate a picture as possible of the motivation for and context of any incident. The law applies on the school’s premises and is the business of the police to whom the school has handed all the information in its possession.

    All students are safe and timetabled lessons resumed shortly after the incident."
