Various villages surrounding Milton Keynes will be getting Full Fibre broadband from Openreach over the course of the next 14 months.
It will be introduced in Olney, Weston Underwood, Lavendon, Emberton and Clifton Reynes.
The Centre for Economics & Business Research suggests that this will not only benefit rural residents in their leisure time, but it also has clear economic benefits to rural areas.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed the news which will mean the rural areas of MK are brought up to speed with gigabit connectivity and the reliability of full fibre.
He said: “I know connectivity in our rural areas has been a real issue so I’m really pleased Openreach are bringing Full Fibre broadband to Olney, Weston Underwood, Lavendon, Emberton and Clifton Reynes.
“MK is hub of technology, innovation and design so it’s only right we have the fastest broadband right from the city centre out to the villages and rural areas.”
