With the BBQ season now upon us, Thames Valley Police are warning Milton Keynes residents to ensure their doors and ground floor windows are locked when enjoying time in the garden.
The force points out that 25% of burglaries take place when doors and windows are left insecure.
With many residents spending more time in their back gardens, it provides a prime opportunity for thieves to burgle local homes.
The campaign on Twitter tells residents not to 'invite a thief into your house'.
