With just over a week left until the Memory Walk in Milton Keynes, residents are being encouraged to participate as the funds raised will go towards dementia support services and research.
Alzheimer's Society is hosting a Memory Walk in Milton Keynes on Sunday, September 8, with people across Buckinghamshire encouraged to register and take part.
Alzheimer's Society provides help and advice for anyone affected by dementia through its support line, online and print information, expert dementia advisers, and online community. The walk gives participants the chance to share advice, support, and laughter all whilst raising awareness for a condition that affects several lives across the UK.
Marion Child, Head of Local Services for Alzheimer’s Society, told MKFM, “There are currently around one million people living with dementia in the UK, including more than 3,000 people in Milton Keynes. Walk for those you love, those you’ve lost, and for everyone living with dementia, the UK’s biggest killer. By taking part in one of the 26 Memory Walks across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, we can help to end the devastation caused by dementia.”
To make sure everyone is included, there are two routes to choose from on the day of Memory Walk: the 3km route, which is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages and abilities, and the longer 5km route, which has amazing views of the lake and the Peace Pagoda and is more challenging with a combination of woodland and paved paths.
When participants cross the finish line, they will be able to celebrate with a medal, knowing they have walked for a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
Milton Keynes Memory Walk will start and finish at the event site, by the events lawn next to Splash 'n' Play.

There is limited event parking at Willen Lake so please car share where possible. City centre parking is a 3km walk, with Milton Keynes Central a 4km walk away.
