Two people from Milton Keynes travelled to Coventry yesterday to do some 'essential' shopping at Costco.
The pair were stopped by West Midlands Police in Coventry city centre and asked why they had travelled to the city, 50 miles away.
They claimed that their travel was for 'essential' shopping at Costco, but when the police asked what they bought, it was only washing up liquid and water.
While Costco is still open as an essential shop, the fact the pair had travelled so far was not considered a reasonable excuse.
Unimpressed by the pair's reason, the police fined them both £200 for non-essential travel and the fact they were from different households.

This comes after our earlier story that a tattoo artist had been fined for breaching Covid rules and working during the lockdown.
