Local MP smashes fundraising target for Willen Hospice.
The MP for Milton Keynes North, Chris Curtis, is today celebrating having reached his fundraising target for Willen Hospice, as he takes on the London Marathon to support their vital work. Chris was aiming to raise £2,500 to support the valuable work of Willen Hospice, who have supported Chris and his family personally during difficult times.
Willen Hospice provides free expert care and support for local people with a life-limiting illness, and their loved ones. One of the many vital services that Willen provides is the Willen at Home (WAH) team - a dedicated group of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses, Doctors, and Health Care Assistants has the expertise, compassion, and experience to care for those with life-limiting illnesses. The WAH team makes it possible for patients to stay in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by the people they love, while still receiving the specialized care they need.
Chris said, “I’m over the moon to have been able to raise this amount of money for Willen Hospice. I know from first-hand experience how compassionate and dedicated their staff are and how much they can help people at what can be the most difficult times of their lives. Each step of the London Marathon, I’ll be able to know that this has helped Willen to continue doing what they do. ”
Chris continued, “I’m working hard in Westminster to secure a long-term funding settlement that means Willen Hospice can be safe in the knowledge that they can continue their work for many years to come. But in the meantime they need funding now, and I’m so pleased I’ve been able to help with that.”
Chris concluded, “Thank you so much to every single person who has donated - your money will make such a difference to help Willen Hospice continue to carry out this important work. And thank you most of all to the staff at Willen, who make the biggest difference to people’s lives every single day.”
