Milton Keynes Mayor praises city’s community

Outgoing leader celebrates partnerships at MKFM business event.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes used one of the last addresses of her tenure to praise the people and businesses of the city she represents.

Cllr Marie Bradburn, whose term in office ends next month, was speaking at an MKFM partners and supporters dinner last night (10th April) at The Residence Bar & Kitchen in the city’s ‘The Hub’ area.

The Mayor said she was celebrating ‘something really special’ by recognising the partnerships between the city’s local businesses and said that MKFM helped to keep that support going by championing community causes and connecting local residents.

“I know we live in a city that’s famously built on grid roads and innovation, but what really keeps Milton Keynes moving is the people. The businesses, charities and community groups who step up time and time again to support each other.”

A resident of MK for 30 years, the Mayor is a big believer in growth and community involvement and has seen many changes in the city during her three decades living there. The people of Milton Keynes were recognised by her last week at the Mayor’s Awards, which she mentioned in last night’s address.

“It was a truly wonderful evening – one of the highlights of my year – shining a light on some of our unsung heroes," she said.

“From volunteers who quietly give their time, to individuals and groups going above and beyond every day, the awards reminded us of the extraordinary people who make Milton Keynes the place it is.

“So tonight is about celebrating partnership,” concluded the Mayor. “On behalf of Milton Keynes, thank you for backing MKFM, thank you for backing our city, and thank you for making it all happen.”
