Milton Keynes in new food bank plea

Charity fundraisers call for huge cereal number.

A new campaign to help boost valuable stock for MK Food Bank is launched today with boxes of breakfast cereal the main goal.

The city’s Food Bank is launching its latest campaign 'The Great Cereal Topple’ and is inviting city residents to take part in the exciting new drive to collect much-needed cereal for food parcels.

Inspired by students at Ousedale Secondary School in Newport Pagnell, who created a massive cereal domino topple around their sixth form area while gathering food donations, the charity says it wants to see even more people get involved. MK Mayor Marie Bradburn has backed the campaign.

The Food Bank is calling on families, schools, workplaces and community groups to collect as many cereal boxes as possible and set up a domino-style topple. Then share it on social media and help MK Food Bank with much needed donations. The team with the best ‘domino effect’ topple or largest number of cereal boxes will win a prize, says the charity.

“We aim to collect around 10,000 boxes of cereal, to support our ongoing vital work in the community, making sure that families across Milton Keynes can have a proper breakfast and a good start to their day,” said Poppy Cheetham, Fundraising and Communications Coordinator.
