Police put the brakes on anti-social driving in ongoing crackdown.
Illegal car driving and motorbike riding in Milton Keynes is being tackled in a continuing Thames Valley Police programme of action against anti-social vehicle use linked to car events across the city.
TVP says it is now using off-road motorbikes and high-tech ‘spy in the sky’ drones to seek out and clamp down on dangerous and illegal drivers and riders who cause fear and havoc across the city.
The extra equipment means officers can patrol the city’s Redways network of paths, and tackle the illegal use of off-road motorcycles being ridden in restricted areas.
“We’re now routinely deploying off-road motorbikes and drones to help tackle illegal and anti-social vehicle use,” said a TVP spokesperson. “Have you seen our off-road bikes? They’re capable of policing the Redways.
“Our ‘eagle eye in the sky’ captures evidence of anti-social vehicle use and breaches of Public Space Protection Orders – helping officers take action, from prosecuting offenders to issuing Notices of Intended Prosecution.”
Last weekend, 10 fines or notices were issued by police, one driver was dealt with for having no insurance, and another driver was reported for careless driving.
“This kind of behaviour can lead to increased insurance premiums and insurance policies being revoked,” said the spokesperson.
