Milton Keynes households to receive first batch of Council tax rebates

The council tax rebate will provide a payment of £150 to households across Milton Keynes living in council tax bands A–D.

The government announced that they would be introducing a one-off £150 payment scheme, which does not have to be paid back, following rising costs of energy bills.

Households eligible for the Council Tax scheme include those in Milton Keynes who are living in a property which is in council tax bands A-D and which they live in as their main home.

With each local authority being in charge of its local distribution, Milton Keynes Council has confirmed residents should begin to receive their rebates, saying: "Due to the number of payments and the verification needed it has taken longer than expected to set up the payment process but the first batch of payments should be received by 22 April 2022."

There is only one rebate available for each household.

For most people eligible in Milton Keynes who pay Council Tax by direct debit, the £150 rebate will go directly into the bank account without any need for you to do anything.

In accepting the rebate the bank account holder is confirming that they are receiving the payment on behalf of the whole household and that they meet the eligibility criteria set out below.

If this later appears not to be the case, the grant may be liable to recovery from the person who received the payment.

You don’t need to wait for the letter you can apply now for your rebate on our online portal if you think you meet the eligibility criteria below:
