A Milton Keynes girl arrived in style to her prom, after being escorted by over forty motorbikes, marking the best entrance of the night.
Kody, 16, arrived in style to her prom last week Thursday, July 11, after her parents arranged for over forty bikers to escort her to the entrance of her prom.
Leigh Ainsworth, Kody’s dad, DJ’s for a lot of school proms across Milton Keynes, and has been DJing for Radcliffe School for a few years. All his older children went to Radcliffe, so Leigh was already equipped for the prom preparation chaos.
Aware that Kody’s prom would be coming up, Leigh told the teachers last year, “wait until next year when we bring Kody along” and he did not disappoint.
Leigh and his wife, Marion, are both passionate riders, passing the passion on to Kody, so it was an easy decision when it came to the nature of her entrance.
Having a passion for bikes, Leigh and Marion attend several bike meets and are part of numerous Facebook groups, where they shared their plans and invited bikers to participate in Kody’s entrance. One of the groups Leigh posted on was the BarrelBikers, a group with over 1,000 members.
Marion is part of a Facebook group known as NASA (Northampton and surrounding areas) ladies, where they meet up occasionally, so naturally Marion shared the plans with the ladies, sparking more participators for Kody’s entrance.
Emma, owner of a local cafe in Woburn, next to Triumph, the motorbike dealer, also posted the plans of Kody’s prom entrance on her business page, garnering more interest and participators.
After sharing on several platforms, and by word of mouth, there were a total of forty-three bikers willing to participate in Kody’s prom entrance, all coming from different part of the UK. Bikers came from Leighton Buzzard, Aylesbury, Cambridge, Oxford, Birmingham, Nottingham, and of course, Milton Keynes.
A member of the NASA ladies’ husband, Sean, owns the sidecar Kody arrived in. A couple weeks ahead of Kody’s prom, Sean’s wife had fallen off the bike in France. To have the bike ready in time for the prom, Sean had to fly to get the bike fixed, fly back to the UK, and ride all the way back to MK, going above and beyond for Kody.
On prom night, July 11, the bike group met at Curry’s PC World car park, in central Milton Keynes, and slowly rode together, with Kody in the sidecar, to the Church of the Cornerstone.
Leigh told MKFM, “Kody said she felt like a princess. The noise was pretty loud and a big impression was definitely made once we arrived. Everyone’s jaw dropped. It was a brilliant night.”
After the entrance, Leigh rode back home, jumped in his van, and returned to the prom venue, where he took over from his daughter who had been DJing the first half of the prom.
