Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival filling fast

Slots to take part in lake event being snapped up.

One of Milton Keynes’ most popular charity events is gearing up for a splashing time this summer, and team places are filling up fast!

The Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival is coming on Saturday, 19th July this year, at Willen Lake and, whether you're looking for a thrilling challenge, a unique team-building experience, or a fun day out supporting a fantastic cause, now is the time to secure your spot.

The festival, organised by NewWave Events in support of Brain Tumour Research, promises an action-packed day of racing, entertainment, and community spirit. Last year’s event saw more than 20 teams take to the water, raising significant funds for Brain Tumour Research, and 2025 is set to be even bigger and better.

The exhilarating event unites communities to celebrate culture, tradition and teamwork, while supporting a vital cause. This year, paddlers of all abilities will race to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research, helping organisers address the fact that brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer.

“Events like this play a critical role in funding our sustainable research programmes and moving us closer to finding a cure,” said a NewWave spokesperson. “Join us for an unforgettable day of energy, determination, and community spirit, as we work together to create real change.”

Before race day, you can get a sneak preview of the action as the NewWave Events and Brain Tumour Research teams bring a real dragon boat to Centre:MK on Saturday, 8th March. There you can meet the team behind the event and experience the thrill of dragon boat racing first-hand.
