Milton Keynes councillor donates hundreds of pounds to local church

A local Lib Dem councillor has used half of her ward donation to help fund a local church fete.

Lib Dem Councillor Marie Bradburn, who represents Bradwell, donated £500 to St Lawrence Church in Bradwell Village.

The money has been put towards providing family friendly and fun activities at the summer fete, which is taking place this week, on Saturday 12 August from 11-4pm.

Tomorrow, you can enjoy a variety of entertainment, from live music, dancing, and bellringing.

There will be plenty to eat and drink with a beer tent run by local Bradwell pub, The Victoria Inn, an ice cream stall, and delicious cream teas.

For the kids there will be a bouncy castle and a beat the goalie competition, and if you’re feeling lucky, you can enter the tombola and raffle to win some great prizes.

And special guest, the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Mick Legg will also be in attendance.

Councillor Marie Bradburn, said: “Events like these are so important for the community, not only do they bring people together, but they also celebrate our city’s rich culture and history.”

The Reverend Dr Paul Smith, Vicar of St Lawrence Church, added: “Marie has been great to work with and very supportive over the last year, not only has she donated part of her ward budget to help fund the summer fete, but she has also given a lot of her time to help us organise our 800th Anniversary celebrations. We are very grateful for the donation, and I can’t wait to see local families at the fete on Saturday!”

The fete forms part of a yearlong celebration to mark the church’s 800th Anniversary, since its first Vicar Henricus, in 1223AD.

The church is also holding events later in the year to continue the celebrations which include a quiz night, pilgrim walks, and visiting preachers that include the Bishop of Oxford, Rt Reverend Dr Stephen Croft, as well as previous vicars.
