Milton Keynes Council is working with six local cultural organisations to launch a brand new trainee taster scheme where young people explore work in the field of culture and heritage.
Milton Keynes Council has set aside part of its £2.25m economic recovery funding to provide a range of brand new cultural traineeships that will be delivered by Milton Keynes College in partnership with many MK based organisations.
Trainees will benefit from 70+ hours of work experience with MK Gallery, MK Arts Centre, MK Discovery Centre, Bletchley Park, Interaction MK and The Parks Trust.
The scheme will give people an opportunity to gain skills in a range of areas, including event management and digital marketing.
At the City Discovery Centre, trainees can find out what it’s like to be an archive assistant or a landscaping assistant.
Everybody is welcome to apply as the programme aims to make the local arts and heritage sector more inclusive to young people from all backgrounds.
Deputy Leader of MK Council and Cabinet Member Robin Bradburn, responsible for Economy, Recovery and Renewal said: “The cultural sector in MK is incredibly important to MK residents and the people that visit our city.
“We’ve helped businesses in the cultural sector throughout the pandemic and this traineeship programme highlights our commitment to growing the sector in the future. We might even find some of the leading lights of tomorrow, so I’d encourage everyone with an interest to apply.”
