Milton Keynes Council will be hosting a number of events throughout 10-23 May in order to mark the national celebration of the fostering community.
Foster Care Fortnight is The Fostering Network's annual campaign to raise awareness of the transformational power of fostering and to celebrate the fostering community.
Foster Care Fortnight 2021 will be taking place from 10-23 May and the theme for this year will be #WhyWeCare.This theme was decided upon through consulting with foster carers and care experienced children and young people from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Milton Keynes Council is marking the celebration with multiple events over the next two weeks, which it is encouraging locals to take part in. The events are as follows:
Tuesday 11 May
Virtual Carer's Coffee Morning (10:00 - 12:00) - Take part in a virtual coffee morning over Zoom (more details to follow).
Wednesday 12 May
Library story time - This virtual event will be broadcast via the website for families to access (more details to follow).
Thursday 13 May
Carer's Evening Quiz (18:30 - 20:00) - Bring a friend to the online quiz (details to follow)
Ready, Steady, Cook! Competition - This is a unique opportunity to test your cooking skills, have fun and win a £20 food voucher. You can cook anything, but it must be within a £10 budget and nutritious. £10 Tesco vouchers will be provided to participants.
Friday 14 May
Recruitment Q&A (15:00 - 17:00) - Your opportunity to ask our panel of experts what it's like to be a foster carer and what it involves.
Library story time - This virtual event will be broadcast via the website for families to access (more details to follow).
Tuesday 18 May
Let's Cook with Riffat! (10:00 - 12:00) - Riffat will be showcasing some quick, nutritious lunchbox ideas. Share your ideas by sending your recipes or a photo of your dish to Riffat before 14 May 2021.
Mayor's Afternoon Tea (12:30 - 14:00) - This invitation only event will be held in the courtyard at MK Museum.
Thursday 20 May
