Caring organisations’ donations matched by The Big Give trust.
Two Milton Keynes-based charities will have their donation funds doubled this Christmas after being selected to receive assistance by the philanthropy trust The Big Give.
Camphill MK, which provides support for adults with learning disabilities, and Willen Hospice, who give specialist care, information and advice to support patients and loved ones, will both benefit from The Big Give organisation for their fund raising campaigns that run during December.
Camphill’s Christmas Challenge campaign will seek to raise valuable funds for several big projects to help their residents, including building new accessible accommodation in Pennyland, and adding improvements to houses at Willen Park to make them even more suitable for residents with differing abilities.
“Camphill MK hopes to secure £30,000 in the Christmas campaign,” said Lucy Davies, who is responsible for the organisation’s fundraising. “From 3rd to 10th December only, The Big Give has pledged to double the difference and match fund donations made to Camphill MK from the public.
“So, if you’re thinking about donating to us this festive season, please do so between those dates because your donation can make a huge difference. We could secure a whopping £30,000 in the Christmas campaign.”
Three trusts, The Anson Charitable Trust, Old Possums Practical Trust and The Reed Foundation, have already joined forces to pledge £5,000 each to the match-funding campaign. With the Big Give scheme doubling any donations made by the public, it could see them secure at least £30,000.
“We are flattered that these national partners see the value in our work and have committed funds to our charity,” said Lucy Davies. “We really hope we can secure the whole £15,000 by receiving funds from the public to this level – but we will really need everybody’s help”.
Donations can only be made through the Big Give website: https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a056900002TPXK9AAP?c=10303.
Meanwhile, Willen Hospice’s Big Give-supported campaign runs from 3rd to 31st December. All money raised will help fund the work of the Hospice’s Willen at Home team, who provide specialist care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses as well as supporting their loved ones.
This service alone costs the charity £1.4 million every year and currently receives no NHS funding.
Thanks to local pledgers, donations to Willen Hospice will be doubled during December, supporting their nurses to visit patients at home this Christmas.
“Many of our patients don’t know who else to turn to, especially when local NHS services are under so much pressure,” said Anita Parker, a Willen at Home Clinical Nurse Specialist. “We want to make sure we can be here to care for future generations.
“It’s fantastic that any donations will be doubled during December. I’m only able to care for local people in their own homes because of charitable donations like these.”
