Milton Keynes-born Leah Williamson appointed OBE in ceremony at Windsor Castle

    A Milton Keynes-born football star has been awarded an OBE in a ceremony at Windsor Castle.

    Prince William has today (4/10) presented Leah Williamson with her OBE in a ceremony at Windsor Castle.

    The MK-born footballer was named in the King's New Year's Honours list at the end of last year.

    Leah Williamson, from Newport Pagnell, won six major trophies with Arsenal and last year, and has been recognised for lead England to their first-ever Women’s Euro title last summer.

    Williamson was Captain of the Lionesses when they beat Germany in the Euro 2022 final.

    Recently, Leah Williamson joined world leaders to take tothe stage at the United Nations, the first England women’s footballer and first Arsenal player to do so.

    Williamson made a plea at the UN in New York to challenge gender stereotypes and level the playing field for girls around the world.
