Milton Keynes-Based Ex-Military Entrepreneur Shortlisted for Prestigious Soldiering On Award

Milton Keynes-based veteran Ryan Evans – Founder of MK Loft Boarding Ltd - has been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious Soldiering On Awards 2024.

In two weeks’ time, the organisation will be celebrated at a black-tie event at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, hosted by broadcaster Jeremy Vine. Ryan is one of three finalists in the Business Scale-Up Award category, with the winner set to be announced on 16th October.

The Soldiering On Awards, now in its 14th year, is an unparalleled programme that recognises outstanding achievement in the Armed Forces community. Individuals, groups, and organisations are showcased, including serving personnel, veterans, and family members, across twelve diverse categories.

The Soldiering On Awards brings together the entire Armed Forces community and draws engagement from the MOD, military charities, and corporate partners that share the programme’s mission to shine a light on the valuable and lasting contributions of the military family to UK society.

A panel of independent judges rigorously reviewed a remarkable number of nominees, selecting 36 finalists across all categories. Three finalists were chosen for each award, reflecting the exceptional talent and dedication within the Armed Forces community.

Earlier this year, the finalists were honoured at a private reception at the House of Lords in July, hosted by the Rt Hon Earl Howe GBE PC, Patron of the Soldiering On Awards.

Soldiering On Awards CEO, Lt Col Ren Kapur MBE said:

“Year after year, the individuals and organisations nominated for the Soldiering On Awards never cease to inspire, which makes shortlisting finalists an incredibly challenging task. The Awards are crucial for spotlighting remarkable stories and ensuring inspirational achievements receive both local and national recognition.”

About Ryan Evans and MK Loft Boarding

Ryan Evans left the Army in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2019 that he happened upon the business that would transform his life. After boarding the floor of the loft in his new property, Ryan began offering the service to friends and family and the local community. Despite the sudden changes brought by the pandemic, Ryan took the self-employment plunge in 2020 that saw the creation of MK Loft Boarding Ltd. With determination, Ryan seized the initiative to build his own business, and within three years MK Loft Boarding evolved from a one-man band to 14 employees and a projected turnover this year of £1m.
