Alzheimer’s Society are inviting Milton Keynes residents to take part in Memory Walk at Willen Lake on September 8.
Alzheimer's Society provides help and advice for anyone affected by dementia through its support line, online and print information, expert dementia advisers and online community.
There are around one million people living with dementia in the UK including more than 147,000 in the South East, and the charity says thousands of people are facing the realities alone, without access to vital support.
To help fund its dementia support services and research, Alzheimer’s Society is hosting 26 Memory Walks across England, Wales and Northern Ireland including one at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes on Sunday 8 September, with people across Buckinghamshire encouraged to register to take part.
The walk gives participants the chance to share advice, support and laughter all whilst raising awareness for a condition that affects several lives across the UK.
To make sure everyone is included, there are two routes to choose from on the day of Memory Walk: the 3km route, which is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages and abilities, and the longer 5km route, which has amazing views of the lake and the Peace Pagoda and is more challenging with a combination of woodland and paved paths.
When participants cross the finish line, they will be able to celebrate with a medal, knowing they have walked for a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
Milton Keynes Memory Walk will start and finish at the event site, by the events lawn next to Splash 'n' Play.

There is limited event parking at Willen Lake so please car share where possible. City centre parking is a 3km walk, with Milton Keynes Central a 4km walk away.
