Milton Keynes Breakers are back in action for the first time since April as they return to action this Saturday hosting Essex Rebels in their opening Pre-Season Fixture of the 2024-25 campaign at Bletchley Leisure Centre with a 5pm Tip-Off.

Billy Beddow has been busy in the Off-Season building his new-look Breakers side with Jordan Spencer, Andre Arrisol, Dante Langley, Leon Henry, and Bradley Day all departing at the end of the season. Youngsters Buai Luak and Will Issekya were also presented opportunities to play college Basketball in America.

Seven new faces arrived in Milton Keynes this Summer with KJ Johnson, Adrian Scarborough, Temi George, Kai Walker, Jaguar Jackson, Kai Williams, and Troy McIndoe all committing their futures to the Breakers. Elsewhere, Luke Gregory, Nate Robinson, and Blayne Freckleton all extended their stay.

Essex Rebels will present a good litmus test for the Breakers as they finished second in NBL Division 1 last season, but would miss out on the title due to their Head to Head record with the winners Derby Trailblazers’. The Rebels themselves have re-signed a number of key roster members with Luke Busumbru, Ben Winter, Kyron Martin, and Tyrese Hudson all opting to stay with the Rebels.

Busumbru led the Rebels in efficiency with a score of 350.0 and placed third for his side in average points scored with 11.9, he also placed second with an average of six rebounds and top for average assist with 5.1 per game.

Speaking ahead of his first game as Team Captain, Blayne Freckleton expressed his excitement to get back playing in front of the MK Breakers crowd, “There’s nothing like the energy of playing in front of our fans, and I can’t wait to get back on the court with the team. The support we get in Milton Keynes is incredible. We’ve been working hard in the off-season, and I’m excited to kick things off with our first preseason game.

Billy Beddow, MK Breakers Head Coach, reflected on the team’s preparation for the new season; “This off-season has been all about hard work and building a new roster that can compete at the highest level. We’ve brought in some great talent, and the chemistry we’ve developed in such a short time is really exciting. The players have put in the effort every day, and now we’re ready to show what we’re capable of. I’m looking forward to seeing it all come together on the court and playing in front of our incredible fans again.”

It’s a great chance for you to see the new-look Breakers in action as they prepare for the tough test of NBL Division 1.
