LISTEN: Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart re-elected as MPs for Milton Keynes

    Conservative MPs Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart have been re-elected as the Members of Parliament for Milton Keynes.

    In Milton Keynes South, the Conservative Party secured 30,652 votes with Labour in second place with 28,927. The Liberal Democrats had 1,895 votes, UKIP had 1,833 and The Green Party secured 1,179 votes.

    The result left Iain Stewart with a majority of 1,725 based on a turnout of 70%. This was going against the prediction of the BBC/ITV/SKY exit poll which predicted a Labour gain for the seat.

    Iain spoke to MKFM's Darren D following the announcement of the result:

    Meanwhile in Milton Keynes North, the Conservative Party secured 30,307 votes with Labour in second place with 28,392. The Liberal Democrats had 2,499 votes, UKIP had 1,390 and The Green Party secured 1,107 votes. The Christian People's Alliance also stood with 169 votes.

    The result left Mark Lancaster with a majority of 1,915 based on a turnout of 72%.
