It has been confirmed that a man died on Bank Holiday Monday (31/5) after being pulled from the River Great Ouse in Olney.
Emergency services were called to the area near the Olney Recreation Ground at around 17:20 following reports that a man had "gone missing" and entered the water.
Police officers, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene, located the man and took him to shore.
He was taken to hospital where he sadly died.
Thames Valley Police has said that the death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner to determine the cause of death.
Following the incident, officials from Olney Town Council and PCSOs have been at the river offering advice to people regarding river safety.
Philip Geach, Mayor of Olney, said: "Please, please, if you are swimming in the river here, or indeed any open water do take extra care. There are hidden dangers for even experienced swimmers.
"Our thoughts go out to all involved in [Monday's] incident."
