Major train engineering works in Milton Keynes on May bank holiday weekend

National Rail has advised travellers to travel either side of the bank holiday at the beginning of May as they will be major engineering works across the network.

The engineering works will take place from Saturday 1st May till Monday 3rd May, the first bank holiday weekend in May.

A number of engineering works will take place across the UK, but it will affect Milton Keynes in a number of ways.

They will be no trains at all between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central, due to work for HS2 near London Euston station, maintenance work around the Wembley and Watford areas, as well the Bletchley flyover rebuilding work.

Upgrades will also be taking place across the North West of England, though the full details are yet to be released.

A number of trains leaving Milton Keynes either terminate or go through the North West so it is worth checking before travelling.

National Rail has not announced if replacement buses will be available, so it is worth finding alternative arrangements for travellers who need to travel on those dates.

Currently, National Rail has not updated its timetables in regards to the May bank holiday works, so they have advised the public to check a few days before works are due to start.

Travellers are asked to travel before or after the planned engineering works to prevent too many people from travelling over that weekend.

Further details and up to date travel advice can be found on the National Rail website.
