Low traffic School safety zones to be piloted at three Milton Keynes schools next year

    School Streets is an approach where streets are closed to motor traffic at the start and end of the school day.

    These zones helps reduce congestion and air pollution, making it easier and safer to walk or cycle to school.

    Every school within the Borough was considered for the pilot, Milton Keynes Council has considered a few factors when selecting the schools to pilot this scheme, such as road classification and bus routes.

    Schools involved include:

    Chestnuts Primary School

    Restrictions will begin on 31 January 2022 and will take place on St George’s Road with access restricted from St Clements Drive to St Patrick’s Way.

    Restrictions will be in place between 8.15am – 8.55am and 2.45pm – 3.30pm

    Milton Keynes Council is hosting a virtual evening at Chestnuts Primary School on Wednesday 12 January 2022 at 6pm and welcome anyone who would like to find out more about School Streets.

    Cold Harbour C of E School

    Restrictions will begin on 14 February 2022 on Highland Close up to the junction of Kincardine Drive.

    Restrictions will be in place between 8.20am – 9am and 2.45pm – 3.30pm

    Milton Keynes Council is hosting a virtual evening at Cold Harbour School on Tuesday 11 January 2022 at 6pm and welcome anyone who would like to find out more about School Streets.

    The Premier Academy

    Restrictions will begin on 14 February 2022 on Tiffany Close up to the junction of Hunter Drive. Students will only be able to access the school via the Tiffany Close entrance.

    Restricted access times will be between 8.20am – 9am and 2.45pm – 3.30pm
