There were long delays on the M1 Southbound earlier following a four vehicle collision near Milton Keynes.
All lanes have now re-opened southbound between J15 for the A508 at Northampton and J14 for the A509 at Milton Keynes.
Motorists were being advised that travel time in the affected area was around 75 minutes.
Northbound traffic was also being affected with slow traffic past the scene of the accident.
Ambulance crews have now left the scene and recovery work is complete.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed earlier.
Highways England were advising motorists planning to visit Wembley Stadium to seek alternative routes.
