London Northwestern Railway to scrap First Class on trains between Milton Keynes and London

A major train provider has announced plans to scrap First Class on all its trains from May, in response to 'changing customer demand'.

Commuters from Milton Keynes to London are set to see an additional 4.7million seats available every year as a major train provider has announced plans to declassify First Class.

London Northwestern Railway (LNR), which currently provides up to 91 trains per day from London to Milton Keynes Central, has announced that it will be making major changes to its services when the new National Rail timetable comes into play on 21st May.

The company says it will be removing First Class in response to 'changing customer demand'.

"First Class use has been in decline for some time," the company said.

"By making the whole of our trains available to everyone we are able to provide additional seats for our Standard Class passengers.

"The change means an extra 4.7 million seats will be available for everybody on London Northwestern Railway every year at a time when we continue to welcome more customers back to the railway."

While signage will be removed, there are no plans to make any major alterations to the internal layout of First Class areas. The company says that there are plans for current trains to be replaced by Class 730 trains in the coming years.

Anyone with a First Class ticket for travel after 21st May, including season ticket holders, can visit a station ticket office or contact the company for a refund.
