Local legend, soon to be 100, walking for the NHS raises over £25,000 in less than one day

Tom Moore, 99, who is walking for the NHS has raised more than £25,000 in less than 24 hours, with the total raised going up by the minute.

Just yesterday lunchtime when Tom, from Marston Moretaine, spoke to MKFM, the total was at nearly £8,000. This morning, donations are rolling in by the minute and the money raised stands at just over £35,000.

The WW2 veteran is walking 100 lengths of his 25-metre long garden before his 100th birthday on 30th April. He started his challenge wanting to raise £1,000 for NHS Charities Together.

Tom Moore has commended the NHS for the "incredible" service that he has received in the past, having been treated for a broken hip and skin cancer.

He now wants to give back to those working "so hard", who are "so tired" and are "really doing so well" during the current climate.

Tom has stolen the hearts of thousands of people across the country who are sending birthday wishes and congratulating him for his fundraising efforts so far.
