Local Councillors have been calling for stab kits to be provided to venues in Milton Keynes.
Local councillors are urging for kits to be placed in venues around Milton Keynes.
The stab kits contain pressure bandages, tourniquets, a chest seal dressing and other medical equipment and cost £96 each.
The family of Jay Fathers, an 18-year-old man from Milton Keynes, have been pushing for these kits to be in local pubs, with 10 pubs across Milton Keynes already agreeing to home some.
At just before 3am on New Years’ Day this year, officers were called to reports of an altercation in Walshs Manor, Stantonbury.
Jay Fathers, who was 18-years-old, was located at the scene with serious stab wounds and was being treated by his friends and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.
Tragically, Jay later died at Milton Keynes University Hospital of his injuries.
Now, councillors are taking to social media to push this campaign.
James Lancaster, Conservative Councillor for Tattenhoe ward, has taken to Facebook to push the campaign saying: "This is a really important campaign and one I want to get behind to help save lives in Milton Keynes"
He said: "I know this won't fix the wider long-term issue around knife crime and I want to see more police on the streets, but it will give a lifeline to those who need it in the short-term"
Shazna Muzammil, also from the Tattenhoe ward, has also shared this campaign across social media.
☑️I hope this initiative gets taken forward!!
